Is Stem Cell Research Ethical? The question that has been asked so many times, is stem cell research ethical? To argue ethics over this topic, one must first know what a stem cell is.Stem Cells are â€Å"cells with the ability to divide for indefinite periods in culture and to give rise to specialized cells† (Stem Cell Basics: Introduction). The National Institutes of Health say that stem cells are distinguished for two different reasons. The first is â€Å"they are unspecialized cells capable of renewing themselves through cell division, sometimes after long periods of inactivity† (Murnaghan). The other is they can be induced to become tissue- or organ-specific cells with special functions. In some situations they can repair and replace worn out or damaged tissues. Though scientists have made progress using adult stem cells, the use of embryonic stem cells for research is still absolutely necessary. The Downfal of Women in Good Man Is Hard To Find by Singer

â€Å"A Good Man Is Hard To Find† is a short story by Isaac Bashevis Singer in which a family meets an execution death by an outlaw. The story focuses around the Grandma in the story who is completely self-absorbed who, for example, prefers to think about her appearance then the possible deaths of her family and herself: â€Å"(while driving in a car with her family) In case of an accident, anyone seeing her (the Grandma) dead on the highway would know at once that she was a lady† (194). Through a character dissection of the Grandma in regards to her relations with other characters and her own actions, the theme of this short story, persistent and all-consuming selfishness leads to one’s downfall, is revealed. Grandma Bailey is the epitome of a self-absorbed human being who simply cannot escape from the gravitational pull of her own self. June Star, a minor character whose role is to allow the true nature of the Grandma to be revealed, states about why Grandma di dn’t go to Florida, â€Å"She (The Grandma) wouldn’t stay at home to be queen for a day† (194). One page into the story and the nature of The Grandma is already being revealed. The fact that a described â€Å"little† girl could recognize such a character trait in the Grandma and say it with such force indicates that the Grandma is truly someone who is self-centered. The author descriptions involving the Grandma in relation to the other characters also points to the narcissism. While describing the Grandma playing with the baby

Jodi Arias free essay sample

Travis Alexander lived in Mesa, Arizona and was known as a smart, successful individual whom always cared and did for others. Travis was really dedicated to the Mormon Church his grandmother introduced him too as a young child. Prepaid Legal services in which the company Travis worked for had a service conference in Las Vegas in where he met this girl by the name of Jodi Ann Arias. It was known that Arias became part of the Mormon faith religion and was soon enough Alexander’s girlfriend. The relationship was not going so well that Travis maintained a friendly relationship with Jodi. Jodi began to stalk Travis by following every step of the way he would take when she found out Travis had a new girlfriend. On June 4, 2008, salesman and motivational speaker Travis Alexander was murdered in his own apartment. Travis Alexanders body was found 5 days later in the shower surrounded with blood by his friend who had become increasingly worried about his whereabouts after not being able to contact him for several days. We will write a custom essay sample on Jodi Arias or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Jodi Arias was convicted of first-degree murder after fighting her innocence and making people believe she was the victim of a controlling, abusive relationship she held with Alexander. People have a certain perception about themselves. Embarrassment, failures, and anger are just a few of the insults people feel when they are insecure and when their self-esteem lacks confidence. â€Å"Deep down we’ve all constructed an idea of who we ‘should’ be: how we should look, act, think, feel and be regarded by others. † I think a lot of us try to meet standards and have determination in accomplishing certain goals and when these standards are not met; we look for reasons to blame ourselves why. Even though the story remains suspicious from this trial, Jodi Arias changed her way of being to get closer to her boyfriend. Travis devoted a lot time to the Mormon faith and lived a different lifestyle. Jodi joined this religion to make her relationship with Travis a lot easier, but most importantly to keep a great bond with him. Little does she know that she was just pushing him away from the relationship? She might have been looking for redemption and by joining this religion she thought she might get saved. I really dont think Jodi had any support from her family nor peers. Her actions had a lot to do with the people that surrounded her. According to some research, Child maltreatment is a broad of spectrum of behaviors that are harmful not children, including physical, psychological, and sexual abuse, as well as neglect. Many of the children who are victims of maltreatment develop externalizing behaviors such as violent dating behaviors, low self-esteem, violent crime, and risky sex behavior amongst others. Jodi Arias claimed to have suffered these consequences by both her parents and by Travis Alexander. In her testimony she stated how her father was very intimidating to the point that there was no physical abuse needed. One of the many reasons that led to this disturbing murder might have been the anger she held towards Travis for leaving her. She might have felt rejected, abandoned, and cheated. I can’t name any strength within in Jodi’s family because she had suffered so much. How can a person be physically and mentally stable from their head if all they received was punishment? In fact, her own mother stated she might have gone through a split personality disorder and she gives examples of that, But Dr. Richard Samuels, the forensic psychologist that assessed her, he didn`t assess her with that. He determined that she did not have that split personality. One of her childhood friend mentions how it was like growing up with Jodi. She mentions Jodi was amazing. â€Å"She was a kind person. She was funny. Like, everybody knows she was a beautiful artist and photographer. She was athletic, actually. She`s extremely funny. And just everybody loved her. In fact, everybody just wanted to she was a great person. Everybody wanted to be Jodi`s friend. † Did Jodi change throughout the years or was she really experiencing a multiple personality disorder? As to Jodi, Travis would call her derogatory names and used her to fulfill his sexual fantasies and consider Jodi as his Dirty little secret. She stalked him, she went out of her way to know every type of contact he would had especially with another woman. Her jealousy issues were out of control since he moved on with another person. This completely set her off and might have triggered her to commit this heinous act of crime. A treatment plan should specify who, does what, when, where, how often, and under what conditions. We will never know what exactly triggered Jodi to do such a thing. There weren’t many evaluations done on Jodi’s behavior patterns or even patterns that indicate symptoms of a mental disorder. In order to come through and help Jodi, we would need as much information from her family and peers. Her behavior, her writing, her court testimony, has left a significant number of people with the impression that she is a liar. Putting as much information together will help narrow down the pieces to help Miss Jodi Arias come to a conclusion.

The Total Employee Involvement The Total Employee Involvement program ensures that responsibility for the companys performance is the shared responsibility of all levels of employees. Daily work management Daily work management consists of defining and monitoring key processes, ensuring that they meet set targets, detecting abnormalities and preventing their recurrence. TVS Motor encourages continuous improvement in all aspects of work, using Cross Functional Teams (CFT), Supervisory Improvement Teams (SIT) Quality Control Circles (QCC) and suggestion schemes The five pillars start with policy management, which is used to arrive at the annual breakthrough objectives.
